Chester House Inn and Antiques
Chester, AR 72934
Now operating as a bed and breakfast inn with an adjoining antiques stores, the location dates back to 1887 and was once a hotel for railroad passengers and workers until the late 20th Century. The site was believed to have been a brothel at one point, and people passing by have claimed to see a pair of ghostly women wearing old-fashioned clothing waving at them from a second floor window. The two ghostly women are believed to be Ruby and Pearl, both former prostitutes when the place was a bordello between World War I and World War II. The other spirit here is that of a man, known as Clarence, who froze to death on the balcony of Room #4. People have heard disembodied footsteps that supposedly belong to him.

Reviews
Last weekend my husband and I went to see the apothecary store. The sweet ladies offered a tour of the Bed/Breakfast. As soon as I came up the stairs, there was a heaviness on my chest. I could barely breathe. The more I stayed there, the heavier it became. I did not know the history of the building. I mentioned it to the lady showing us around. She let me know about Ruby/Pearl and Clarence. The following weekend, we took our 14 yo son to buy more soap. I did not want tell him the history. He seemed fine until he stepped in Clarence room. He took two steps in and said “ F - no. Something isn’t right in here.” Turned around out the door. I waited until we were downstairs to tell him the history. My son was curious- so he went back upstairs to Clarence’s Room. When we got home, he notice light scratches on the top of each of his shoulders. The right looks like a perfect “M” and the left is a single line.
