This hotel is no longer in operation, and is near total ruin. David Mayberry, an 1800s owner of the hotel, is believed to linger here in spirit. He had buitl the hotel for the area's miners and prospectors, which caused a number of gunfights to break out here, causing many deaths. Mayberry himself was shot, but not killed, leading to schizophrenia. Due to his unstable mental state, he was said to have stabbed his wife to death before burning her body in the fireplace. He then proceeded to drown their son. Stories say you can hear the wife crying at night, and screaming coming from the bathtub in the basement.

I have lived in Royal, AR for more than 20 years and have never heard of this place or any other haunted places. Royal is extremely small, so any building that could have possibly been a hotel would be memorable. If anyone has any ideas as to the exact location of the Mayberry I would be very interested in checking it out personally!!
